Joel Klatt on Northwestern's 3-0 start: 'Why do we ever underestimate Pat Fitzgerald?'
There’s a lot of excitement in Evanston – Northwestern is 3-0.
After an energizing halftime talk in the locker room by Wildcats coach Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern came out dominating the second half of Saturday’s game with Nebraska to come away with a 21-13 victory, improving to 3-0 in the Big Ten West Division.
The Wildcats’ success is not surprising to some in the know, particularly Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt.
“He’s one of the best coaches in America,” Klatt said of Fitzgerald.
Klatt thinks the Wildcats could be in serious contention for a spot in the 2020 B1G Championship game.
“In a year Wisconsin may not even qualify for the Big Ten Championship game because they may not get to the requisite number of games,” said Klatt. “Why couldn’t it be Northwestern?”
The Wildcats entered the Nebraska game with wins over Maryland and Iowa, and will take their 3-0 record on the road to take on Purdue on Saturday evening in West Lafayette.
