Lori Hooten had the opportunity to ring Northwestern’s famous bell Thursday, but her “PR” carries with it some special significance.

Fans may remember that the bell in Northwestern’s weight room is used when players set a new personal record (PR) on a workout. Set a record, ring the bell for the Wildcats:

For Hooten, she used the bell to signify the end of her cancer treatment, her husband Jay Hooten announced via Instagram. Jay serves as Northwestern’s Director of Football Performance, a position he has held under Pat Fitzgerald since 2011.

“Our sweet beautiful mother and wife Lori Hooten has fought and finished her year long battle with cancer,” Hooten wrote in his post on Instagram. “Today marks the last treatment of many over the past year!

“She wanted to do what the Cats do when she finished treatment! Ring The Bell!”
