Northwestern adds home game to 2023 nonconference schedule
Northwestern’s 2023 nonconference schedule is one step closer to being completed.
On Monday, Northwestern and New Mexico State agreed to have a nonconference matchup in Evanston on Oct. 28, 2023. It will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs on the gridiron.
That contest gives Northwestern its second nonconference opponent for that season. Additionally the Wildcats will travel to Durham, North Carolina to play Duke on Sept. 9. They will need to have one more game added to the 2023 schedule.
Of the 11 games on the schedule, Northwestern is currently scheduled to host six opponents at Ryan Field and will have five road games. The school would likely either add a home game or neutral-site contest, depending on the opponent.
Northwestern’s nonconference schedule is already completed for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. In 2021, the Wildcats will host Indiana State and Ohio in non-league play, and also travel to Duke. The following season, Northwestern will host Duke and will also have home games against Southern Illinois and Miami (OH).
