Northwestern has found its final nonconference matchup for the 2023 season by scheduling the UTEP Miners, according to FBSchedules’ Kevin Kelley. The game between the Wildcats and the Miners is scheduled for Sept. 9.

Northwestern has two previous nonconference matchups lined up with a home game on Oct. 28 against New Mexico State and a road game versus Duke.

UTEP will be the second current team from the C-USA that Northwestern will face. The Wildcats have faced the Rice Owls seven times.

This game between Northwestern and UTEP will be the first time the two teams have met on the field in program history. Northwestern will reportedly pay UTEP $1.2 million guaranteed for the matchup.

This game is expected to be played in Week 2 of 2023 after a B1G game to start the season, similar to the schedule this season.

Northwestern is currently 1-6, with the only win coming in the 31-28 victory over Nebraska in Ireland.
