For the first time in 40 years, Notre Dame is coming to Ryan Field.

Northwestern announced that the two teams will square off in Evanston on Nov. 3 vs. Notre Dame. The Irish last made the trip to Northwestern in 1976.

The last times the two teams met was in 2014, when the Wildcats came up with a thrilling 43-40 in overtime in South Bend.

That finalized Northwestern’s 2018 slate, which is loaded with premiere home games. The Wildcats will host the likes of Michigan, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Notre Dame and intra-state rival Illinois.

Northwestern will also open the 2018 season with a B1G game for the first time since 1984.
