Northwestern came up with a huge performance in Saturday’s win over Wisconsin.

Though there was plenty to like about the win, it was another vintage defensive performance by Pat Fitzgerald’s squad that stole the spotlight. The Wildcats allowed just one early touchdown before stifling the Badgers the rest of the way.

On Monday, Northwestern unveiled its Players of the Game, and it was a host of usual suspects in the nominations. Offensively it was quarterback Peyton Ramsey who earned the nod for the game.

Ramsey threw for 203 yards and accounted for both touchdowns by the Wildcats, helping the team control the action all afternoon. Ramsey was also able to avoid throwing an interception against the tough Wisconsin defense.

Defensively, Northwestern went with the tough trio of linebackers in Chris Bergin, Paddy Fisher, and Blake Gallagher. The trio combined for an impressive 34 tackles with Gallagher and Fisher both hitting double digits. The linebacking corps was also responsible for two forced fumbles, four tackles for loss, and a sack in a truly dominant performance.

Cam Mitchell received the nod as the Special Teams Player of the Game:
