Northwestern and head coach Chris Collins are reportedly close to an agreement on a 3-year contract extension that would keep Collins in Evanston through the 2027-28 season.

ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg shared the news on Thursday.

Collins led Northwestern to the NCAA Tournament last season — just the program’s second appearance all-time in The Big Dance. Collins also engineered the 2017 run to Northwestern’s first-ever tourney.

In 10 years as the Wildcats’ coach, Collins has a 156-162 record.

The Wildcats went 23-12 last season, making their first appearance in the AP Top 25 since 2020. They beat 4 teams ranked inside the AP poll, including a 64-58 win over then-No. 1 Purdue on Feb. 12.
