Northwestern cornerback Cam Ruiz recorded his first career sack last week in a 43-3 win over Maryland. His reward?

The Wildcats mic’d him up for practice in the snow.

Here’s the video:

That video features some singing, laughing and plenty of form tackles by the junior defensive back.

Ruiz is coming off an excellent season for the Wildcats. As a sophomore, he compiled 44 total tackles, three tackles for loss, seven pass deflections, a forced fumble and an interception. He also forced and recovered a fumble as a freshman in 2018.

Back in the offseason, Ruiz’s presence is one of the reasons why we expected the Wildcats’ pass defense to be better in 2020.

He wasn’t targeted much in Week 1, but did record two total tackles. However, Northwestern did manage three interceptions against Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa.

Northwestern will kick off its Week 2 matchup vs. Iowa on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
