Former Northwestern offensive line coach Adam Cushing is taking one of his colleagues from Evanston and adding him to the staff at Eastern Illinois.

On Monday, Adam Rittenberg of ESPN reported that Chris Bowers, who had been Northwestern’s director of player personnel, would be joining Cushing’s staff at Eastern Illinois. Bowers will serve as the defensive coordinator for the Panthers.

Bowers was previously the defensive coordinator at Concord University in 2010, a Division II program.

Cushing was named the head coach at Eastern Illinois earlier this month. He had been a member of Northwestern’s staff for the past 14 seasons.

Bowers joined Pat Fitzgerald’s staff in 2011.

Northwestern finished the 2018 season with an 8-5 record, winning the B1G West and competing for a conference title. The Wildcats will be back in action on Dec. 31, taking on Utah in the Holiday Bowl.
