Northwestern just clinched a spot in the Big Ten Championship this past weekend.

The Wildcats are on fire in conference, as the team is now 6-1 in B1G play, and again, will be playing the winner of the Big Ten East on Dec. 1. One way for a program to build is to get key victories.

Northwestern has gotten a few of those this season, including the win over Iowa on Saturday to clinch the division. One day later, the Wildcats may have just gotten their next Clayton Thorson at QB:

Aidan Atkinson, a 3-star QB in the Class of 2020, verbally committed to Northwestern and made the announcement on Twitter.

Atkinson is a 6-foot-3 signal caller from Colorado and is the No. 16 pro-style QB in his class according to 247Sports. He is also the first to commit to the Wildcats for 2020.

Players came and go, and Atkinson may be one to get excited about if you’re a Northwestern fan.
