Northwestern’s basketball program received a boost over the weekend, landing a talented small forward out of Indiana.

Over the weekend, three-star small forward Brooks Barnhizer announced his commitment to the Wildcats. The Lafayette, Indiana native is ranked No. 149 overall by 247Sports in the 2021 recruiting cycle and is the No. 8 player out of the state of his home state.

Barnhizer made his announcement with a video on Twitter. He’s the second player in the class to commit to Northwestern, joining four-star guard Julian Roper.

Barnhizer held offers from eight programs during the recruiting cycle. He picked Northwestern over Ball State, Butler, Detroit, Evansville, Western Kentucky, Western Michigan and Xavier.

According to 247Sports, Barnhizer is listed at 6-foot-6 and 200 pounds. He attends Lafayette Jefferson High School where he does a little bit of everything on the floor. For the 2019-20 season, Barnhizer averaged 20.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.7 blockers per game in 26 contests.

Northwestern’s 2021 recruiting class ranks 39th nationally and 10th in the B1G.
