Northwestern hoops learns first-round opponent for 2023 Hall of Fame tip-off at Mohegan Sun, per report
Northwestern basketball learned its first round opponents for the Hall of Fame tip-off at Mohegan Sun for the 2023-24 CBB season.
The event was announced back in February and will include 4 teams: Northwestern, Mississippi State, Washington State and Rhode Island. According to a report from CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, the Wildcats will start out their mid-season tournament against Rhode Island before facing one of Mississippi State or Washington State.

Rhode Island struggled last season in Year 1 under Archie Miller. The Rams were dreadful offensively and finished with a 9-22 record, dead last in the Atlantic 10.
That happens under a new head coach, especially at the mid-major level. The Rams are likely to be a more formidable opponent in Year 2 under Miller, though this still plays very favorably towards the Wildcats.
The start of basketball season is inching closer and closer.
