Northwestern’s 2022 recruiting class got a nice bump on Wednesday afternoon as 3-star tight end Chris Petrucci committed to the Wildcats.

Here’s his announcement:

According to 247Sports, Petrucci is the No. 85 tight end in the country and the No. 9 player in the state of Illinois for the class of 2022.

Listed at 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, he attends Maine South High School in Park Ridge, Illinois.

Petrucci chose the Wildcats over offers from multiple Big Ten programs including Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. Cincinnati and Kentucky have also offered him, according to 247Sports.

He’s the second commitment in Northwestern’s 2022 recruiting class. The first was 4-star receiver Reggie Fleurima, who committed back in March. The class is currently ranked No. 67 nationally and No. 12 in the Big Ten, according to 247Sports.

With the recruiting dead period expected to end on June 1, expect more prospects to take a hard look at Northwestern — and other programs — throughout the summer.

The Early Signing Period is in December.
