Northwestern has added a new commitment to its 2024 recruiting class.

Fresh off a visit to campus, offensive tackle Payton Stewart from Washington has pledged to the Wildcats. He tweeted a note announcing his pledge to Pat Fitzgerald’s program:

“I want to start off by thanking God for this opportunity. I want to thank my mom and dad for the hours that they have spent driving up and down the coast and flying me around the country, just for me to achieve a life long goal. I want to thank every coach who has believed in me and took the time to recruit me. I want to thank my family for always being there when something is needed. I want to thank my friends for sticking with me and keeping me going. I want to thank all Kelso fans who come and support us. With all that being said, I am honored to say I will be furthering my education and football career at the NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY! Thank you Coach Fitzgerald and Coach Anderson for believing in me.”

A Kelso standout, Stewart’s listed measurements are 6-7 and 240 pounds. On the 247Sports composite rankings, Stewart is rated 3-stars, the No. 13 Washington recruit, No. 78 offensive tackle and No. 929 prospect overall nationally.

Stewart has picked up 14 scholarship offers during his recruitment. Northwestern was scheduled to be the first of 5 visits. He had planned to visit Duke, Oregon State, SMU and Washington State in June.
