Northwestern is adding another in-state product to its 2020 recruiting class, landing a local linebacker over the weekend.

Three-star linebacker Xander Mueller announced via Twitter that he would be committing to Northwestern, becoming the seventh prospect to pledge to the Wildcats. He’s also the younger brother of current Northwestern linebacker Erik Mueller.

“After a great visit and receiving a scholarship offer, I am committed to Northwestern University!!” Mueller said on Twitter. “I can’t wait to join my big brother and be a Wildcat! #GoCats.”

Mueller is ranked as the No. 17 player out of Illinois and is a top 100 linebacker in 2020 class, according to 247Sports. The Wheaton, Ill. native is the second in-state product to commit to Northwestern, joining tight end Hunter Welcing.

With seven commitments now in the 2020 class, Northwestern ranks seventh in the B1G and 23rd nationally. Mueller ranks fifth among the Wildcat pledges.
