Northwestern posts awesome video as Pat Fitzgerald celebrates win No. 100
Heading into the 2020 season, Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald was sitting on the verge of his 100th career victory as the leader of the Wildcats.
Fitzgerald’s squad wasted little time getting its head coach victory No. 100 as Northwestern cruised to a 43-3 victory over Maryland on Saturday.
Since taking over in 2006, Fitzgerald has helped raise up the Wildcats into being a relevant program for the first time since Fitzgerald himself was a player in the program who helped lead Northwestern to a Rose Bowl appearance in the 1990s.
Under Fitzgerald’s leadership, the Wildcats ended a long bowl losing streak but capturing the Gator Bowl against Mississippi State. Besides that success, Northwestern captured a Big Ten West crown and nearly pulled off a colossal upset in the Big Ten championship game.
Saturday’s win isn’t as monumental in terms of season success, but it is a testament to what Fitzgerald has built in Evanston. To honor Fitzgerald hitting the century mark, the program released this video taking a look back at the 100 wins Fitzgerald has had.
