Northwestern is a winner of four-straight games, a 5-1 record in B1G play and owns the lead in the West. Saying the Wildcats have some confidence is putting it lightly.

Following the team’s 31-17 win over Wisconsin on Saturday, Wildcats running back Isaiah Bowser was oozing with confidence. And he put Notre Dame, Northwestern’s next opponent, on upset alert.

“Somebody has to beat ’em so it might as well be us,” Bowser told Teddy Greenstein of the Chicago Tribune.

Entering the weekend, the Irish are a perfect 7-0 on the season and ranked No. 3 in the Associated Press poll. Notre Dame plays Navy on Saturday night.

Northwestern hosts Notre Dame next Saturday in Evanston. Though the Irish own a 37-9-2 advantage in the all-time series, but the Wildcats have won the last two meetings in 1995 and 2014.

Bowser had a huge game last weekend, rushing for 108 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries. Prior to his appearance against Rutgers, the running back had just two yards on two touches.

Saturday he rushed for 117 yards and a score on 34 carries in Northwestern’s win over Wisconsin.

The Wildcats will need another great effort from Bowser next Saturday if they hope to upset the Irish.
