Northwestern’s search for its quarterback of the future continues.

Could Bennett Meredith be the answer?

The 3-star prospect out of Birmingham, Alabama announced his commitment to the Wildcats Wednesday night on his Twitter page.

Meredith chose Northwestern over schools such as Louisiana-Monroe, Appalachian State and Toledo, per 247Sports. So far, he’s the Wildcats’ only quarterback commit from the Class of 2022.

Northwestern’s 2022 recruiting class ranks 8th out of the 14 teams in the B1G, according to 247Sports. It’s led by local product Reggie Fleurima, a 4-star wide receiver from Chicago’s suburbs, 4-star defensive end Anto Saka. Meredith is the 15th commit for Pat Fitzgerald next season.

The Wildcats have already started two quarterbacks this season — Hunter Johnson and Ryan Hilinski. Northwestern is struggling this year, going 3-4 overall so far and 1-3 in B1G play, and is scheduled to take on Minnesota in Evanston this weekend.
