It’s been a busy weekend for Northwestern on the recruiting front. Over the last three days, the Wildcats have landed three verbal pledges, bringing their total to eight members for the 2021 class.

Sunday, Northwestern received two verbal commitments. The first came from four-star defensive end Najee Story, who had offers from several blueblood programs, including Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan and many others. Later that day, Pat Fitzgerald picked up another pledge from three-star Indianapolis cornerback Theran Johnson.

Listed as a 6-foot, 170-pound corner, Johnson raked in five offers on the recruiting front. He picked Northwestern over Cincinnati, Ball State, Miami (OH) and Central Michigan. Johnson made his announcement via Twitter.

According to 247Sports, Johnson ranks as the No. 68 cornerback in the 2021 recruiting class and is the 13th-best player out of the state of Indiana. During his 2019 season at North Central High School, Johnson totaled 62 tackles, seven pass break-ups, four interceptions and a forced fumble.

Johnson is the first defensive back of the 2021 class to commit to Northwestern.

Northwestern is now up to eight verbal pledges with this recruiting cycle and ranks 31st nationally and 10th in the B1G.
