Northwestern basketball made history Sunday afternoon, becoming the first iteration of a Wildcats team to down an opponent ranked No. 1 in the AP poll. Chris Collins’ unit fought tough and downed No. 1 Purdue, 64-58.

The Wildcats held Purdue to their lowest point total all season. The Boilermakers also scored 58 points in a win against Maryland.

Boo Buie was unstoppable Sunday. He outscored Purdue’s Zach Edey, being the leading scorer for both teams with 26 points on 9-20 shooting. He also totaled 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Not a bad day’s work!

Chase Audige added 15 points with 2 rebounds and 2 assists. He also recorded 2 steals, adding to Northwestern’s total of 11 steals on the evening. Truly, the Wildcats won this game on the defensive end of the court.  They shot an okay 41% from the field and just 18% from deep. Purdue, however, shot a below average 36% from the field.

The Wildcats are in great shape now, having won 3 straight with another Quad 1 opportunity against Indiana on the docket for this Wednesday in Evanston.
