Northwestern softball’s season came to an end after a 6-1 loss to UCLA in an elimination game on Friday. What a great season it was for Wildcats.

The Bruins scored 1st in this one. A single to left field in the 1st inning, and a throwing error by Northwestern in the 4th inning made it 2-0 UCLA. It didn’t take long for Northwestern to answer back, however.

Grace Nieto hit an RBI double into left field with runners on 1st and 2nd base to give Northwestern its 1st and only run of the game in the bottom of the 5th inning.

UCLA quickly answered back with a home run in the 6th inning, increasing its lead to 3-1 lead. However, Jordyn Rudd helped Northwestern keep it a close game after throwing out a UCLA runner that tried to steal 2nd base.

Unfortunately for Northwestern, it couldn’t keep UCLA from adding 3 more runs in the final inning. Danielle Williams pitched all 7 innings, finishing the game with 7 strikeouts.

Northwestern ended the season with a 45-13 record following Friday’s loss to UCLA.
