Northwestern softball advanced to the Super Regional round of the 2023 NCAA Softball Tournament Sunday, downing Miami (OH) in thrilling fashion.
The RedHawks gave the Wildcats every single bit they had, though. Northwestern advanced with a 5-4 win, coming back from an early 2-0 deficit to crack their 2nd straight supers appearance.
The Wildcats haven’t been as dominant as some other teams in the Regional round, but they swept the Evanston region regardless, downing E. Kentucky, Kentucky and now Miami.

The player of the game for Northwestern was Skyler Shellmyer, who totaled 2 hits and scored the winning run in the top of the 7th inning. At the time, the Wildcats were tied before Kansas Robinson brought Shellmyer home.
The Wildcats will face off against Alabama in the Super Regional round.
