Urban Meyer likes what he sees over in Evanston, Ill.

The legendary coach and FOX analyst tabbed Northwestern’s Pat Fitzgerald and Mike Hankwitz as his coaches of the week in his weekly segment.

Meyer highlighted Hankwitz as a longtime Big Ten defensive coordinator who has helped construct this vaunted Wildcats defense. Last week, Northwestern held Wisconsin to just seven points and forced five turnovers.

Hankwitz has been a Big Ten defensive coordinator since 2006. He was previously with the Badgers.

Meyer also gave credit to Fitzgerald, who has managed to get undefeated Northwestern into (preliminary) conversations about the College Football Playoff.

Indiana offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan also earned a shoutout from Meyer after the Hoosiers gave Ohio State a tough game last weekend.

Northwestern debuted at No. 8 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings on Thursday. The Wildcats will likely face the Buckeyes in the Big Ten Championship game in December.

Northwestern faces Michigan State on the road this weekend.
