Northwestern takes early lead in Citrus Bowl on perfect TD pass from Peyton Ramsey
Northwestern jumped out to a 7-0 lead over Auburn in the Citrus Bowl thanks to a 35-yard TD strike from quarterback Peyton Ramsey.
It was one of Ramsey’s best throws of the season and it’s got the Wildcats in the driver’s seat early on.

Credit to Ramaud Chiaokhiao-Bowman for a great route, as well.
It’s worth noting Auburn is missing a few key starters, including two members of its starting secondary. Still, touchdown throws like that from Ramsey have been hard to come by this season.
That’s his 10th touchdown of the year and one of the few times he’s pushed the ball down field. Ramsey was averaging 5.8 yards per attempt coming into this game.
Despite a perceived raw talent disadvantage, Northwestern entered this game as 4.5-point favorites. The Wildcats are looking to finish a season with just two losses for the first time since 1995.
