Northwestern will be without 2 DBs against Duke, per report
Northwestern will reportedly be without defensive backs A.J. Hampton and Coco Azema in Saturday’s contest against Duke, per ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg.
Both players were injured in the Week 0 win over Nebraska in Ireland. While there isn’t much clarification on the severity or timeline of the injuries, it is clear that both players will not be playing today.
Last game, Hampton had 3 tackles and Azema had 8 tackles. While Northwestern will miss both players, Azema’s absence will be significantly felt.
Hampton, a junior from Warren, Arkansas, had 40 total tackles in 12 games. Azema, a junior from Cypress, Texas, had 72 total tackles and 47 solo tackles.
Regardless of its missing players, Northwestern will look to pick up a big win in Week 2 over Duke in the Wildcat’s home opener. Duke is also looking to keep the momentum going after a 30-0 win in Week 1 against Temple. The game kicks off at noon on Fox Sports.
