Northwestern WR hits transfer portal after two seasons in Evanston
After a 2020 season with just five catches for 51 yards, and a touchdown, Northwestern wide receiver Malik Washington has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
Washington joins Wildcats Isaiah Bowser and defensive back Gunner Maldonado, who have reportedly entered the portal as well, according to 247Sports.

A sophomore, Washington appeared in five games this season for the Wildcats, after playing in 11 as a true freshman. He had six receptions for 25 yards in 2019.
Having been inactive for three games in 2020, Washington did not have the breakout season that Wildcats offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian was hoping for.
By just entering the portal, a player transferring is not guaranteed, but in most cases it is unlikely a return to the prior team will occur. This season has seen a drastic increase in portal activity, mostly due to the NCAA granting all players an extra year of eligibility. However, the bloated roster sizes will likely make it difficult for all the players in the portal to land in a new program.
