Northwestern freshman linebacker Paddy Fisher has received some national recognition for his outstanding performance against Michigan State on Saturday.
Fisher recorded 17 tackles, 14 of which were solo stops, in the Wildcats’ 39-31 triple-overtime win over the Spartans in Week 9. On Sunday, the linebacker was named the Walter Camp Nation FBS Player of the Week.
Sports Illustrated’s Bruce Feldman tweeted out the announcement.

Fisher has had a sensational season, as he currently ranks third in the B1G with 73 total tackles on the year. His 44 solo stops are second-most in the conference. He’s also recorded 5.5 tackles for loss and forced three fumbles on the year.
Believe it or not, the 17 tackles was the second-highest total for Fisher this season. In Week 2 against Duke, he tallied 18 stops in a 41-17 loss to the Blue Devils.
Northwestern, now 5-3 on the year after knocking off Michigan State, travels to Lincoln on Saturday to play Nebraska.
