To say that Northwestern dominated Purdue yesterday would be a massive understatement. They held them to just 20 points and only 10 of them came in the second half.
Best of all, though, was the fact that they absolutely stifled Purdue’s running game. The Wildcats held the Boilermakers to just two yards rushing for the game yesterday, which is a season-low for Purdue.
In fact, they held quarterback Aidan O’Connell to -24 yards rushing yesterday on five attempts as he had nowhere to go. Running back Alexander Horvath only had 10 carries for 21 yards which didn’t even get them to the positive side of things.
Finally, they also held wide receiver Milton Wright to just five yards rushing on one carry.
It was a dominant day for the Wildcats rushing defense, though it’ll be hard to repeat that performance next Saturday against the Wisconsin Badgers.
Kickoff for that game will be at 3:30 p.m. ET.
