Pat Fitzgerald earns national recognition for upset of Wisconsin
Pat Fitzgerald and the Wildcats are on quite a roll this season!
In Saturday’s game against Wisconsin, Northwestern used a big defensive performance to overcome three offensive turnovers. The defense forced three turnovers and held star running back Jonathan Taylor to just 46 yards rushing.
It was the second upset of a ranked opponent for Fitzgerald’s squad this season after knocking off Michigan State earlier in the season. Northwestern improved to 5-1 in B1G play after taking down the Badgers and now controls its own destiny in the B1G West.
Northwestern will need more magic to take down No. 4 Notre Dame Saturday, but Fitzgerald was recognized for his team’s performance against Wisconsin. He was named the Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week for the win over the Badgers:
