Back in 2018, Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields was the No. 2 overall recruit in his class coming out of high school. Fields ended up choosing Georgia as a 5-star recruit (from Kennesaw, Ga.) and eventually transferred to the Buckeyes.
But, before all the buzz with Fields began, Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald was recruiting him. And boy, did Fitzgerald love what he saw. As we see Fields now, we can understand why.

Northwestern hosts Ohio State Friday night on Oct. 18 and ahead of the matchup, on Monday, Fitzgerald gave a story about Fields from a few years back:
Pat Fitzgerald recruited Justin Fields, and loved the QB.
He shared a quick story about the process today.

This is pretty funny, and, understandable. Northwestern is not where many five-star prospects choose to go. Georgia? Ohio State? Sure.
So, that may have aided Fields signing with the Bulldogs initially and not the Wildcats.
Sorry, coach.
Northwestern-Ohio State is set for an 8:30 p.m. ET kickoff Friday night at Northwestern and the game will be televised on FS1.
