Justin Jackson etched his name in Northwestern football history on Saturday, as the running back became the all-time leading rusher in program history.

Jackson, who needed just 18 yards to surpass Damien Anderson’s record heading into Saturday’s game against Maryland, rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries. He now sits at 4,639 career yards with six games still remaining on the schedule. Anderson previously set the record at 4,485 yards.

After taking over the top spot in Northwestern’s record books, he was congratulated by several big name personalities on Twitter.

Anderson, the previous record-holder, reached out and congratulated the ball-carrier on the accomplishment.

Then, ESPN personalities and known Northwestern grads Michael Wilbon and Mike Greenberg showed their appreciation for Jackson.

The next milestone for Jackson would be the 5,000-yard mark, a total he’s just 361 yards from eclipsing. Only five B1G running backs have ever hit that mark in their career.

Becoming the program’s all-time leading rusher is an extraordinary accomplishment. Congrats to Jackson, who’s been one of the top ball-carriers in the country over the last four seasons.
