Pat Fitzgerald has stolen a recruit from SEC country.
On Saturday, 3-star athlete Malik Washington, out of Lilburn, Georgia, gave his verbal pledge to Northwestern, picking the Wildcats over offers from Auburn, Indiana, Kentucky and others. He made his announcement via Twitter.
“After extensive prayer and thought, I’ve decided to continue my academic and athletic career in Evanston, Illinois. Northwestern University Commit!” Washington wrote.
God, Thank you!

Washington became the 18th player to commit to Northwestern’s 2019 recruiting class and was the second to give his pledge on Saturday. Earlier in the day, 3-star defensive back Brandon Joseph also committed to Fitzgerald and Co.
With Early Signing Period just a few days away, the Wildcats’ recruiting class ranks 42nd nationally and 11th in the B1G.
