On College Gameday this morning, the crew discussed Northwestern, who’s quickly become one of the best teams in the Big Ten this season.

When David Pollack was asked about the Wildcats and if they could challenge Ohio State, he said, “They’re good, but I’m not ready to buy stock and say they’ll challenge Ohio State for the conference. This is a Pat Fitzgerald team, which is beautiful. This is a really, really good football team. I think they can win a lot of games but everyone is playing for second place.”

After that, Desmond Howard got a chance to speak about Northwestern and he said, “When you look at the Wildcats, they’re sound in all 3 phases of the game. Very disciplined. They’re going to make you earn it.”

Finally, Kirk Herbstreit spoke about them and alluded to the fact that they need to score more. He said, “They’re doing the little things, but they’re only scoring 28 points per game.  As David said, if you’re not scoring more than that, it’s going to be an issue for you.”

The Wildcats will look to get to 4-0 on the season today when they take on Purdue at 5 p.m. ET. The game will be shown on the Big Ten Network.
