Never count Northwestern out.
Down 24-7 to No. 4 Notre Dame, the Wildcats needed some big plays to try and work their way back into the game. Senior quarterback Clayton Thorson delivered.
On a 3rd-and-1, Thorson fired a pass to the end zone to receiver Riley Lees in an all-or-nothing play. Falling to the ground, Lees was able to make the catch with a defender draped all over him.
The touchdown pulled the Wildcats within two scores.
