WATCH: Northwestern LBs working on developing 'violent mindset'
B1G offenses will want to keep their heads on a swivel with this position group roaming around.
It’s no secret that the linebackers at Northwestern are a special group of players. They were one of the big reasons the Wildcats defense held teams to less than 24 points per game in 2018, and the group is arguably one of the best position groups in the B1G.
The unit returns its top two tacklers from last season in Paddy Fisher and Blake Gallagher, and a special run could be in store for Northwestern’s defense in 2019. Still, the unit is always looking to improve under position coach Tim McGarigle.

Northwestern Football shared a video of the unit preparing for the season, and McGarigle is relentless in getting his guys to buy into a “violent mindset.” Needless to say, these guys can wreak havoc on opposing offenses:
“Your punch isn’t violent enough.
Your pursuit isn’t violent enough.
None of your game right now is violent enough.Let’s take it to the next level!” 📈
