There’s usually an unsuspecting hero or two on Championship Saturday. Northwestern running back John Moten IV might be one of them.

In the first quarter of Saturday night’s B1G Championship Game against Ohio State, the Wildcats were trailing 7-0, hoping to put together a drive and tie the score. Northwestern needed just two plays, though.

On the second play of Northwesten’s second possession, Moten raced to the edge and ripped off a 77-yard touchdown run to tie the score 7-7 midway through the opening quarter.

Coming into the B1G Championship Game, Moten had rushed for just 127 yards and two touchdowns on 40 carries. He played in just seven games.

But stats don’t always matter in these games. Clearly it didn’t matter early in the B1G title game.
