Hankwitz coached the Wildcats defense for 12 years with the team. The Wildcats last season finished the season 7-2 and won the B1G West division title. They capped off the year with a win in the Outback Bowl against the Auburn Tigers.
Northwestern is hoping to repeat as B1G West division champions in 2021.
Hankwitz’s defense ranked 3rd last year in S&P+, meaning they were the 3rd most efficient defense in America. According to insidenu.com
The Wildcats play 2 AP Top-25 opponents this season.
The Wildcats are currently trailing the Spartans 14-0 early in the 2nd quarter.
