What Pat Fitzgerald said after Northwestern's upset over Michigan State
Week 6 of the college football season has already come and gone for Northwestern and No. 20 Michigan State.
The Spartans, who are currently ranked in the top 25 and playing at home against the Wildcats were the favored team going into Saturday’s clash between two Big Ten teams.
However, Vegas isn’t always perfect. Northwestern came away with the upset, winning 29-19. QB Clayton Thorson completed 31-of-47 passes for 373 yards, 3 TD and 2 INT, while the team only rushed for 8 yards the entire game.
Thorson’s offense proved to be enough, as did the defensive effort from the Wildcats. The team is now 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten.

Fitz says MSU was going to make NU earn it with the run game, but that he didn't want to abandon the run.

Fitz on Clayton: " I think he's a warrior… You can just see him getting stronger each week. I think he's finally getting himself closer to 100 percent and I think that gives him a lot of confidence."
