Here’s the fun thing about these kinds of prediction stories. You want to have some predictions that surprise people, right? You want to come out of left field sometimes. So some of these predictions may never come true. But I’m pretty confident in some others. I’ve said this Ohio State team is going to be another fun team to watch — but just how fun?

Let’s get to some fearless predictions:

1. Ohio State will reach No. 3 in the polls before November.

Is this crazy? Should the team rise that quickly? Yes. Ohio State’s offense can be the best of the bunch. And in my opinion, Justin Fields will be neck-and-neck with Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence all season. Ohio State, currently No. 6 in the AP poll, hits No. 3 by Halloween, and could very well finish No. 1.

2. The offense will average 48 points per game, eclipsing the 46.9 averaged in 2019.

Mix in the freshmen with this group and there will be some epic blowouts this season. B1G, beware.

3. There will be zero losses again this regular season for the Buckeyes.

Will there even be a close game? At a crowd-less Penn State? Could Indiana make a game of it? Can Michigan make a stand? It’s so hard to go undefeated — much less do it twice in a row. But I just don’t see an upset along the way.

4. Of course, the streak will continue against Michigan.

I know people say that someday, this streak will end. But it will not end at home. Not this season. Buckeyes roll again. After Dec. 12, it’ll be an OSU-record nine straight wins the the series.

5. Ryan Day will be B1G and national Coach of the Year.

Day continues to establish himself as one of the nation’s best, separating himself from the shadow of legends past.

6. Julian Fleming will be B1G Freshman of the Year.

Bank on the kid to blow up. As the top-ranked WR recruit of 2020, he’ll definitely get the chance.

7. There will be a return trip to the College Football Playoff.

Who will they play? What will happen then? I think there’s a very good possibility the Buckeyes win their first game and make it to the national title game.

8. There will be a rematch with Clemson.

Call it a rematch — this time for all the marbles. The OSU offense can match up with anyone. But can the defense slow the Tigers enough to win?

9. Fields will win the Heisman.

NFL analysts have compared Fields to Dak Prescott, and I like that comparison. But I think Fields’ upcoming season blows away everything Dak did in college. Expect a video-game silly offense, and to the leader of that offense goes the spoils.

10. The Buckeyes will win the national title.

You’re going to hear a lot of people say the Buckeyes have lost too much to win it all. That may be true. But I think, by the end of the season, it won’t matter. By that point, the freshmen will be stepping up, guys we’ve never heard of will be killing it as starters, and if OSU can make the title game, they can definitely win it.
