The more things change, the more they stay the same. At least, that’s the theme in Columbus where Ohio State will roll out another elite group of heralded receivers for 2022.

Despite losing Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave to the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Buckeyes are not expected to lose much on offense in the passing game. That is what happens when you have a quarterback like C.J. Stroud, a recruiter like Brian Hartline and a host of talented returners, including the team’s leading receiver for 2021 in Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Smith-Njigba returns to Ohio State after 1,606 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns, but he is far from the only noteworthy returner. Emeka Egbuka, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Julian Fleming all return and were highly rated as recruits coming out of high school. Ohio State also added a quartet of talented receivers via the 2022 recruiting class.

All that has led 247 Sports to include the WR group of the Buckeyes as a top-5 positional group nationally for the 2022 season. Ohio State’s receiving room was ranked No. 3 behind Georgia’s tight ends and the Clemson defensive line.

That ranking might be okay in the preseason, but Ohio State will have a serious shot to improve that slot by the season’s end.
