The best recruiter in college football resides in Columbus.

On Wednesday, 247Sports named Ohio State wide receivers coach Brian Hartline the National Recruiter of the Year for the 2020 recruiting class. He was in charge of signing the best class of receivers of any program in college football during this cycle.

Hartline helped ink Julian Fleming (5-star), Jaxon Smith-Njigba (5-star), Gee Scott Jr. (4-star) and Mookie Cooper (4-star). According to 247Sports, this is the best group of wide receivers in one class since Alabama’s 2017 class, which landed commitments from Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs and Devonta Smith.

Quarterback CJ Stroud and defensive back Cameron Martinez also committed to Ohio State, guys Hartline had a hand in recruiting, as well.

Ohio State currently owns the fifth-best recruiting class in the nation and sits atop the B1G. It’s been an impressive first full class for head coach Ryan Day, who took over the program in January 2019. He led the Buckeyes to a 13-1 record, a B1G title and a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Hartline started at Ohio State in 2017 as a graduate assistant. The 2019 season marked his second year as the program’s wide receivers coach.
