It’s a tradition that’s pretty unique to Ohio State.

No other program has freshmen walk through the door with a black stripe on their helmet. That’s only at Ohio State.

Urban Meyer has kept the tradition going with the program since he arrived in 2012 and he isn’t stopping in 2018. It’s an honor.

On Wednesday, three freshmen officially became a part of their program — as they lost their black stripe.

Josh Proctor, a freshman, is a safety who was ranked as a 4-star recruit by 247Sports and was the No. 7 safety in the country.

Jaelen Gill, a RB, was also a 4-star recruit, but ranked as the No. 2 back in the country for the Class of 2018.

Lastly, Sam Wiglusz, a walk-on WR, also earned the right of having his black stripe taken off.

The entire 2018 Buckeyes freshman class can be seen here.
