The B1G football season may have been called off this fall, but Ohio State isn’t seeing it negatively impact recruiting. In fact, the Buckeyes added to their 2022 class in a B1G way on Tuesday.

Ohio State landed a verbal pledge from 4-star athlete Dasan McCullough, a native of Overland Park, Kansas. He’s ranked as one of the top 100 players overall in the class, coming in at No. 70 overall, per 247Sports.

McCullough announced his decision with a video on Twitter. He picked Ohio State over offers from 43 other programs, including Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Penn State.

Per 247Sports, McCullough is the best overall prospect out of Kansas and is the No. 7 athlete in the class. He could play the linebacker position at Ohio State, but has experience as a cornerback and safety at the high school level.

From 247Sports’ scout Allen Trieu:

Tall, long prospect who looks the part in person. Has played as a deep safety, cornerback and over the slot but body type allows him to project a lot of ways as he continues to grow and physically mature. Has very good fluidity and change of direction for such a long player. Has good cover skills and uses his length to attack the ball in the area.

At 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, McCullough could play a variety of positions in Columbus.

With McCullough’s pledge, Ohio State is now up to five verbal commitments in the 2022 class. All are 4-star prospects ranking inside the top 150 players in the class. The Buckeyes rank second nationally and first in the B1G.
