The Early Signing Period got off to a bit of a rough start for Ohio State.
Wednesday morning, 4-star safety Jordan Battle flipped his commitment from Ohio State to Alabama, becoming the first major star to change destinations. He’s one of the top 100 players in the country.
Battle is ranked as the No. 10 player out of Florida and the No. 6 player at his position. Overall, 247Sports has him ranked as No. 77 in the 2019 class.
For the Alabama, the rich only get richer. According to Tom VanHaaren of ESPN, Battle becomes the 20th commitment in ESPN’s top 300 to pledge to the Crimson Tide.
Recruiting rankings fluctuate quite a bit during the Early Signing Period, so it’s hard to know where exactly the Buckeyes stand following Battle’s decommitment. Ohio State did have the No. 10 ranked recruiting class entering Wednesday, and the second-best in the B1G.
