Clark Phillips will be taking the long flight from California to Columbus to play college football.

On Friday afternoon, the four-star cornerback, who is listed as the No. 4 player at his position in the 2020 class, gave his verbal pledge to the Buckeyes. He becomes the 13th player to commit Ohio State this cycle and is the third-highest player committed in the class.

Five-star wide receiver Julian Fleming and five-star offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. are the only two prospects ranked higher than Phillips.

A native of La Habra, California, Phillips stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs in at 178 pounds. According to Eleven Warriors’ analysis, Phillips brings tremendous athleticism and great ball skills to the Ohio State recruiting class.

Phillips is ranked as a top 50 player overall in the 2020 class, coming in at No. 46. He’s also listed as the No. 4 cornerback and the No. 9 player out of California. He chose Ohio State over several elite programs, including USC, Notre Dame, Alabama, Notre Dame, UCLA, Cal and Oregon, among others.

With Phillips’ commitment, Ohio State has leaped into the top five in the national recruiting rankings, sitting at the No. 5 spot overall. The Buckeyes still have a firm hold on the B1G’s top recruiting class, as well.
