Ranked No. 2 nationally per the 247Sports Composite, Ohio State’s 2021 class is bolstered by one of the gems within the elite-level 2021 class, five-star pass rusher Jack Sawyer.

Sawyer officially signed with the Buckeyes on Wednesday.

The top-ranked player in Ohio, and No. 4 overall, Sawyer didn’t play his senior prep season this fall and opted to use the time to get physically ready to enroll at Ohio State. He is expected to contribute early at OSU as a blue-chip defensive front prospect.

Sawyer commented on Wednesday about his decision, and his feelings toward Ohio State head coach Ryan Day.

“I think he’s one of the best young coaches and I had a lot of trust and belief and him when he took the job,” Sawyer said.

“The blueprint is out there when you look at what the Bosas have done, Chase Young as well,” Sawyer said. “I know if (I go there) with my head down and working as hard as I can, things are going to take care of itself. I’m looking for to getting there and working with the coaches.”
