5-star WR, Ohio State commit says Urban Meyer will 'come back stronger'
One of the top recruits in the 2019 who has already given his verbal pledge to Ohio State has no fear that Urban Meyer will lose his job as leader of the Buckeyes.
Garrett Wilson, a 5-star wide receiver out of Austin, Texas and Ohio State’s top-ranked recruit, told Andrew Schnitker of KXAN that he believes Meyer and the Buckeyes will bounce back from the current investigation.
The star prospect even believes Ohio State will win the national title at season’s end.

“Welcome to life,” Wilson said. “Some things go wrong, not everything is going to go right. At the end of the day, I feel those kids are going to come back stronger after this, Coach Meyer is going to come back stronger and they’re going to win a [national championship] this year.”
Wilson is the 14th-ranked prospect in the 2019 recruiting class, and his considered the second-best player out of Texas and the second-best receiver.
Although he doesn’t believe that Meyer is going anywhere, Wilson did say that he will likely look at other programs if there’s a coaching change in Columbus.
“If they were to fire Coach Meyer, which I hope they won’t, unless [Ryan] Day got the job, I’d probably look at some more schools,” Wilson told Letterman Row.
Ohio State currently owns the top recruiting class in the B1G and a top 10 class nationally, per 247Sports. For the Buckeyes, it’s been somewhat of a miracle that the allegations and ongoing investigation hasn’t steered away any of its top-tier recruits.
The investigation into Meyer’s knowledge of the allegations and arrests involving former assistant coach Zach Smith are expected to conclude this week.
