Five-star wide receiver and Ohio State’s top prospect, Garrett Wilson, is still committed to becoming a Buckeye, even in wake of the news of Urban Meyer’s retirement.

Tuesday morning, news broke that Meyer would step down as head coach following Ohio State’s Rose Bowl Game appearance against Washington. Offensive coordinator Ryan Day will be his successor.

Meyer’s decision, obviously, can muddy the recruiting waters a little bit and forces prospects to re-evaluate their commitment choice. But Wilson stands firm and reassured everyone that he still plans to be in Columbus next fall.

“I am 1000% committed to Ohio Sate University. Much love,” Wilson wrote on Twitter, shortly after the news broke.

Wilson is the second-best receiver in the 2019 class and is ranked as the No. 16 player overall. He’s the top prospect that has already committed to the Buckeyes.

Keeping Day and other staff members in place will probably help to retain the recruiting class Ohio State as pieced together. Still, it’ll be interesting to see if the 2019 class takes a hit because of Meyer’s decision to step away.

At least Buckeye fans now that one of the top players in 2019 class is still committed to Ohio State.
