When Cincinnati makes the trek to Columbus for an in-state showdown with the Buckeyes, the Bearcats will be bringing plenty of fans with them.

On Wednesday, the official Twitter account of Cincinnati Athletics tweeted out that the allotment of tickets it was provided for the road game against Ohio State has been sold out. The two teams will square off at noon on Saturday, Sept. 7.

“Bearcats fans, our allotment of tickets for the [Cincinnati football] game at Ohio State are sold out! We will see you in Columbus on Sept. 7,” the tweet read.

The school did not mention how many tickets it was allotted for the game.

This year’s game is of particular interest, as longtime Ohio State defensive coordinator Luke Fickell will make his first appearance in Columbus since taking over as head coach at Cincinnati. The Bearcats received even better news on Wednesday, learning that L’Christian “Blue” Smith will be immediately eligible in 2019.

Smith originally committed to Ohio State and was on the roster for one season before transferring to UC.

Ohio State leads the all-time series 14-2, but Cincinnati’s only two wins came in the 1890s. The last meeting between the Buckeyes and Bearcats came in 2014, a 50-28 victory for OSU.
