It’s blue chip heaven in the College Football Playoff championship.

In fact, for the recruit-niks out there, it is the most talented game ever in college football history. There are stars all over the place between No. 1 Alabama and No. 3 Ohio State. It is almost like good recruiting can help a team win. Huh. Who woulda thunk that?

And, according to 247Sports, this is the most prolific collection of blue chip talent to ever grace a college football field.

And the matchup between Alabama (83 percent) and Ohio State (80) is by far the most talented championship game I can find by my measure. Blue-Chip Ratios in the 80s are rare, and having a title game feature two teams which meet this mark is unprecedented.

The previous high, as the story notes, was set in 2017’s game between Alabama and Georgia.

And before you get on your high horse and cite the programs that overachieve and don’t recruit nationally or at a high level, just remember this little tidbit from 247Sports’ fascinating breakdown:

Four- and five-star recruits are about 10 times more likely to be drafted in the first round than their two- and three-star counterparts. And five-stars are about 33 times more likely to be All-Americans as two-stars. For every two-star who becomes a big success, there are multiples who will be going pro in something other than sports.
